Is there any point in learning the point-point-point principle and those similar (Geometry)?

As I understand, they're for deciding/identifying whether or not triangles are (correct me if I'm wrong here) directly conguent, directly similar, inversely congruent, and inversely similar, and look entirely pointless in memorizing because I already know what makes these triangles the variations of congruent and similar.
