Dyed my hair out of a box and lost all my natural curls! HELP?!?

I have NEVER dyed my hair out of a box until one moment of weakness I caved. I dyed it a golden blonde and it KILLED all my natural curly hair. I only dyed the top half because the bottom is dark and it still curls, however the top was all stringy and strawy feeling. No curls what so ever. Recently i chopped almost 7 inches off and my hair is now above my shoulders. I did this in hopes of cutting off most of the damaged hair and getting my bouncy ringlets back, however my hair sometimes waves a little, but otherwise just dries frizzy straight with some waves, its just awkward. I just want my long curly hair back again so I'm trying to grow it out. Any ideas on how to fix this without having to continuously cut my hair would be great! Thanks!
